Requesting and activating a card

How do I apply for the Bancontact / Maestro card?

You can apply for the Bancontact card online on the transaction site in 'Bank'/'Cards' or by filling in the application form, sign it and send it back to us. If your application is accepted, the debit card will be sent by regular mail to the legal address of the account holder. Note: Only Belgian residents can apply for a debit card.

How do I apply for a VISA card?

You can apply for a VISA card on the transaction website in 'Banking'/'Cards' or in the App in the menu 'Cards'. Note: Only Belgian residents and private individuals can apply for a VISA card.

When will I receive my card?

You will receive your card as soon as a minimum amount of 50 euros has been deposited on your current account and after our "Cards" department has been notified by e-mail or telephone. For security reasons, you will first receive the PIN code and a few days later the card by post to your legal address.

How to activate the card?

You must activate your card on our secure website Log in as a customer on the site and go to the "Bank" menu. Then in "Cards" and click on "Activate my card". The card will be active after 2 hours.

Can I receive a debit card as a non-Belgian resident?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. The debit card is only available to Belgian residents.
