How to add a card to Google Pay?

All Keytrade Bank debit and credit cards can be added to Google Pay. This can be done in two ways:

  • Via the Keytrade Bank app: Log in to the app, select the card you wish to add, click on 'Add to Google Pay', and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Via the Google Wallet app: Open Google Wallet, click on 'Add a card', and either enter the card details manually or scan the card.

Where can you pay with Google Pay?

  • In stores: Worldwide, anywhere contactless payments are accepted at the payment terminal.
  • Online (e-commerce): On websites that offer the 'Pay with Google Pay' option.
  • In apps: Within applications where Google Pay is integrated as a payment method.

Is Google Pay secure?

Yes. A payment with Google Pay is essentially a payment with your payment card. You enjoy all the services, insurance, and protections linked to your card. Every transaction systematically requires authentication by the legitimate cardholder.

Furthermore, Google Pay uses tokenization: your actual card number is never shared with the merchant.

Does Google Pay protect your personal data?

Yes, Google Pay does not share your actual card details with merchants. For more information, please consult the Google Pay privacy policy.

What happens when your card is renewed (expiry date)?

When a card is renewed upon reaching its expiry date, you can continue using Google Pay seamlessly. The digital card in Google Wallet is automatically updated; no re-activation is needed.

What happens if your card is replaced (damaged or not working)?

If a physical debit or credit card needs to be replaced because it is damaged or worn out, Keytrade Bank ensures that the Google Pay service is not interrupted. Payments via Google Pay will automatically continue using the new card.

Prefer to manage it yourself? First, remove the old digital card from Google Wallet. Once you receive and activate your new physical card, you can register it again in the app.

What happens if you temporarily block your physical card?

Nothing, you can continue paying with Google Pay as usual. These are two separate payment methods. Even in the event of loss or theft of the physical card, Google Pay remains secure, as every mobile transaction requires strong biometric authentication (fingerprint or facial recognition).

What happens if you permanently block your card?

While waiting for your new card to arrive, you can continue to make payments using Google Pay. Because these are two separate payment channels, the digital card on your smartphone remains active. Every transaction stays protected by strict biometric authentication.

What should you do if you lose the Android device containing your card?

  • Contact us: Our Contact Center team can immediately block the cards linked to Google Pay for you.
  • Do it yourself: You can locate, lock, or erase the device remotely via Google's 'Find My Device' service.

Are there limits on the amount you can pay with Google Pay?

The payment limits for Google Pay are identical to those of your physical debit or credit card. Your bank is consulted in real time for authorization during every transaction.

Are there any fees for using Google Pay?

No, using Google Pay is completely free of charge.

Note: For transactions made outside the Eurozone, standard currency exchange fees linked to your payment card will apply.

Which devices and software versions support Google Pay?

Your Android device must feature an activated NFC chip and run a compatible Android version. Please check your smartphone manufacturer's website for specific compatibility.

How many cards and devices can be linked?

  • Number of cards per device: Unlimited. All eligible Keytrade Bank cards can be added to the same Android device.
  • Number of devices per card: The same card can be registered on multiple Android devices (such as a smartphone and a smartwatch), up to a maximum allowed limit for security reasons.

Can a card be managed or removed per device?

Yes. Removing a card from one device does not affect its operation on other devices. A card can be removed at any time, even immediately after adding it.

Which is safer: a PIN code or biometric authentication?

Biometric authentication. Using a fingerprint or facial recognition is both more secure and easier to use than a traditional PIN code.

Are your cards automatically transferred when you change Android devices?

No. For security reasons, registered cards are never automatically transferred to a new device. You must re-register them manually or via the bank app on your new device.

What should you do before selling or transferring your Android device?

  • Remove all registered cards from the Google Wallet app.
  • Remove your Google account from the device.
  • Perform a factory reset on the device.

What information must you provide when registering for Google Pay?

  • For manual registration: The 16-digit card number, expiry date, and CVV code.
  • Via the Keytrade Bank app: Simply select the card and authenticate your identity.

Please note: Your PIN code will never be requested during registration, whether in the app or over the phone.

Do you still enjoy your card benefits when paying with Google Pay?

Yes. A payment via Google Pay is a standard payment with your bank card. All linked services, insurance coverage, and assistance benefits remain fully valid.

How do you manage or remove a card in Google Pay?

This is managed directly within the Google Wallet app:

  • Open the Google Wallet app.
  • Tap the card you wish to manage.
  • Open the menu (three dots) or scroll down and select 'Remove card'.
