Database Specialist

Keytrade Bank is a young, innovative online bank and we are looking for a Database Specialist.

Working in a challenger bank is very different to working in a large organisation. Responsibilities are greater, knowledge broader and agility is key. We have a very high growth rate and we are looking for motivated people willing to become part of our dynamic team to help improve and transform our existing trading and banking system.

You will work in our main office in Brussels as a member of our core infrastructure team. 

The technical environment related to this function covers the following DBMS: SQL Server, MariaDB/MySQL, Postgres, Oracle...in the cloud and on premise, running on Windows and on Linux. For reporting we use PowerBI/Report Server with SQL Server and SSAS.

In addition, we are currently exploring the Azure platform, and you will be part of this journey.

Your Mission: 

As a Member of the Database team, you will be accountable for implementing, maintaining and operating the database and reporting assets of the platform.

More specifically, You will:

Help define, implement and maintain highly available, performant & scalable database systems in order to effectively meet IT Business requirements 

Be involved in deployment and patching automation. 

Maintain (backups, transaction log management, index optimisation etc) and upgrade the database systems etc.

Take an active role in IT Operations (1 day per week). 

Review database schema changes to ensure compliance with standards and ensure optimal choice of indexing, column definitions etc.

Help with problem solving in case of performance problems or functional issues in applications. 

Build a strong relationship both within the infrastructure team and with the development teams.

Promote best practices.

Maintain the deployment pipeline.

Technical skills 

Deep knowledge of SQL Server and its internals.

Microsoft Active Directory

PowerBI/ReportServer

SSAS

Microsoft Cluster Service 

Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) & vulnerability management software (i.e. Nexpose) 

Windows Server-based schedulers 

PowerShell scripting language development 

Public key infrastructure (Microsoft Certificate Authority Service)

Strong affinity with server & client security 

Good knowledge of Linux RedHat

Automation of deployments with tools like Ansible and Powershell

Being able to understand why a machine is under stress (CPU, indexing, cache hits, IOPS, RAM), propose solutions & make recommendations 

HP & Supermicro Servers knowledge (hardware platforms, iLO’s

Experience with Git, JIRA and Confluence.

Soft Skills 

Good communication skills enabling you to explain complex technical issues is an easy to understand way.

Like to keep up to date with the latest technology trends; 

Fluent English and good knowledge of either French or Dutch.

Advanced investigation & problem solving skills with strong analytical skills; 

Availability & flexibility

Interested in cloud technologies and what the future may bring.

Have a clean certificate of good behaviour

B-driving license. 

Assets 

Knowledge of VMWare vCenter and ESXi

Backup software (Commvault)

Basic networking skills

Basic Linux administration knowledge

Basic knowledge of Go programming language.

Knowledge of Azure technologies such as Azure Entra ID / AI services)

Basic F5 experience.
