New indexed amounts for tax deductions have been announced

Published on:

You don't often see taxes and good news in the same sentence, but this may just be one of those occasions. The new indexed amounts for tax deductions or exemption have been announced:

  • In 2019, the amount of interest exempt from withholding tax in a regulated savings account will increase from EUR 960 to EUR 980.
  • Two pension savings ceilings have been applicable since 2018. The lowest ceiling offers a 30% tax benefit and is going up from EUR 960 to EUR 980. The highest ceiling is going up from EUR 1,230 to EUR 1,260 and offers those with pension savings a 25% tax benefit via their personal income tax.
  • The same declaration will also enable investors to declare dividends for the first time in 2019. Dividends up to a maximum of EUR 640 received in 2018 will be exempt from withholding tax. As this withholding tax is 30%, this results in gains of up to EUR 192. For the reporting year of 2020 and the tax year of 2019, this amount will even increase to EUR 800 for dividends received, so that you can recover up to EUR 240.
